The Real Unlock of Vibe Coding

The real unlock of vibe coding tools isn't speed. It's courage. Here's how two weekend projects changed my mind.

A year ago, I thought vibe coding was mostly hype. Six months ago, it was hard to get a project launched. Then this fall, I built two working AI tools on weekends and changed my mind. I didn't suddenly 'get good at coding.' I just stopped waiting to feel ready.

The Projects

VisAIbility benchmarks how brands show up in AI search results, what I've been calling Generative Engine Optimization, or GEO. SAT Studio teaches vocabulary with ElevenLabs voice integration and interactive quizzes. Both are live. Both were built by someone who is waiting for the good people of GitHub to figure out she doesn't know what she's doing.

The Tools That Made It Possible

Claude is what gave me the courage to keep going when I got stuck. I could describe what I wanted, see what broke, and refine in plain language. Claude talked me through 12 GitHub deployments while I built VisAIbility. Lovable didn't click for me all summer. Then someone sent me their Christmas Advent Calendar over the holidays, and I noticed everything had gotten so much easier. Discovering their prompt library was a game-changer. I built SAT Studio there, and it felt like magic when I added voice integration and a competitive dashboard in a few clicks.

The Real Unlock

Now that functionality comes easily, I can focus on what I'm building, what it looks like, and who it's for, instead of whether I'm qualified to start. Engineers aren't going anywhere. But I can now prototype, test with real users, and learn faster before handing something off. That's the courage unlock: shipping early, learning in public, and letting reality — not fear — do the teaching.
